What we know now

• Late on August 3, 2026, Telegram stopped appearing in Apple's iOS and iPadOS App Store. Product pages returned "not found," and searches stopped surfacing the app. An independent App Store monitor reported it unavailable across all 175 regional storefronts it checks — a worldwide delisting, not a single-country action.
• The app was restored within hours. By the morning of August 4 it was downloadable again; existing installs had kept working the whole time.
• Apple has stated the reason. In a statement to the press, Apple said it "briefly removed Telegram from the App Store after our review found content that violates our strict guidelines prohibiting child sexual abuse material," and that the app "was subsequently restored after the developer promptly removed the content and banned the user who posted it."
• Telegram confirmed the sequence. Telegram said Apple flagged one user sharing CSAM, who was immediately banned, and noted it has removed more than 337,900 CSAM-related groups and channels in 2026 (29,640 in 2025), acting on reports from organizations like the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Telegram also publicly questioned on X whether Apple would apply the same standard to every app in the store.

Does this affect your existing Telegram chats?
